Super Duper Happy New Year

It has been a year since i published this blog. It not only serves as a platform to showcase my work but most importantly to document my journey as a wedding photographer. Not having any mentorship or guidance, i discover new technique through trial and error.... reading the blog of top wedding photographers... comparing images... establishing my own style yet making sure it is acceptable to the market... its never been easy... but i am glad that i came this far... :)

There are a lot more to be done.. n hopefully 2009 will be as fruitful... :)

Pleasant Surprise!.. :)

Had a pleasant surprise today... its from one of my couples... n its really unexpected... they actually got me a gift... this simple token... really meant a lot to me... its a token of appreciation.. an appreciation to my work... and i am really glad that i do make a difference in their wedding... living up to expectation... u know i really dont expect a client to go all out to do this.... J&S... both of you are really sweet... really thoughtful... and i truly appreciate this token of appreciation... :)

Jai & Rekha... the cuff link is really nice... will make good use of it during those wedding banquet :)...

do take care and hopefully we meet again someday... :)

Nicholas & Rebecca... Slideshow

When i first got an enquiry for my services from nicholas... i thought it was a scam mail... because of its email and the tel no. stated on it... not only that it is from an overseas contact... it's from Africa... you know how those African/Nigerian Scam works... so i was pretty amused and play along with it... but soon i realised that it is a genuine mail from a really nice singaporean who is based in Africa.. silly me...

Both Nicholas & Rebecca have been very nice to us... making sure we have our meal and most importantly, enough rest... u know how some couple would push u to the max juz to make their money worth it... Their wedding was one of the most enjoyable wedding to document... with all the nice companies... the fun and sporty bridesmaids and groomsmen.... the friendly videographer who produced a wonderful and entertaining xpresshighlight... :)

Oh did i mention that Rebecca is practising law, so i was pretty worried with my amateurish drafted agreement.. :P... but i was told it was very well done... phew.. haha... at least now i know this agreement is well in place... :)

N&R Sneak Preview...

It has been a hectic month for me...

still i wont miss this wedding for anything else... this is a wedding where i was engaged to do what i do best... which also meant.. no group photos.. at least for me.. :) they have another photographer to do that... with 2 photographers and 1 videographer around... i never felt lonely at all... :)

Usually during the dinner... photographers/ videographers would hang around while the guests dine... occasionally, some really nice couple would also leave us a seat... In this wedding, Nicholas's dad actually invited us to the table... i really appreciate this simple gesture of kindness ... now i know where nicholas got his trait from... :)

This is gonna be my last wedding for this year...

Will be flying off to an island getaway in a few days time...

J & H... Xpresshighlight

i am tired... but i cant sleep... 

got back home rather late yesterday... the wedding of Jialun & Huimin has been a blast... with one of the most disgusting (im talking abt the food) gatecrashing one wish they never experience... at least for me :).. i muz said the sisters have done the bride proud :)...  

its has been a long time since i covered their ROM... n its like meeting up with old friends... usually i dont blog about couple parents... but for them... their parents rock... they are really nice people... Jia lun's father look exactly like him... exactly from the same mould.. :P and the character of humin's mum is exactly like her... shy.. quiet and very gentle... its been a year since i met all of them... and i am really glad to see them again... really enjoyed myself...

done an Xpresshighlight for them.... its really stressful... but i think i work better under stress.. :P.. J&H previously requested a song for their slideshow.. however i really think they need something more upbeat to match the feel of my photos.. i am glad that they r open to my idea.. 

In the highlight.. i was also able to get hold of one of the gatecrashing video taken by the jiemei... n it really make the whole slideshow more interesting... 

thank to that jiemei for the video... its very well taken :)...

Gregory & Jennifer... Sneak Preview!!

I was feeling a bit gloomy today... till i got this SMS from the bride....

Quote:

" Hey thanks Alvin.. Lots n Lots of thanks.. Sorry for the long long day u had... We really really love e express highlight.. All my guest loves it too.. Gregory n me really  look forward to e photo album.. Anyway be prepare to have lots of work k.. Cos you are so popular n they really love what you shoot.." 

Suddenly... i see light... :)... it really brighten up my day.... strange enough... i dont feel like this when i receive my pay cheque... :)

Did i mention that the dinner banquet reminds me of that chinese series "little nyonya"... its the gathering of the young and old babas and nyonyas... pretty cool!

Having to wake up at 4 am and ending at 11 pm... its' really tiring... but i must say i will never miss yesterday's wedding for anything else... really enjoyed the company...

Gregory & Jennifer have a bunch of fun loving brothers & sisters...

most are from the healthcare industry... i never felt any safer with them around :P ....

Gregory has always wanted my Xpresshighlight, however looking at their schedule... its almost impossible to rush it out.... so not wanting to disappoint him... i have earlier told him that it will not be possible... but in my heart... i was telling myself... ok... lets try it out...

After that very few hrs of stressful uploading and xpress editing... here is the xpresshighlight that was screened during their banquet...

i shoot what i see... because that is precisely what my client wants...

This is one wedding that i am so looking forward to...

here a gauge to summarize...

Difficultly level= Low!

Pressure level = High!

Satisfaction level= Super High! :P

Let me explain.... I know Yeow Kang & Kwee Lin rather well.... n having covered their ROM & Pre Wedding... we are pretty comfortable with each other (Difficulty)... :) n precisely because of that i want to make sure they only have the very best i could offer (Pressure)... as for (Satisfaction)... i will let my photos do the talking :)

Jai & Shasirekha

My approach in wedding photography is simple....

i preserve the simple, candid moment that will simply be missed with the blink of an eye...

For this wedding, I was able to do just that because i do not need to go around taking those group shots.... Jai & Shasirekha had another photographer to cover that... n it rocks! :)

They are really nice people who ensured i was well taken care of... :)

Edmund & Lily (Sneak Preview) Pt 1

When i first met Edmund & Lily.... they make me feel right at home... no doubt that from then i knew it is not gonna be difficult to document their matrimony.... they have a nice bunch of brothers and sisters who have been very helpful throughout the ceremony.... 

This is one of the most touching church matrimony i attended so far.... n i am truly touch by their love for each other....

The Beginning of The End....

Got back home pretty late yesterday... i was at the wedding of Yeow Kang & Kwee lin... both of them have always been a supporter of my work ever since i started wedding photography about a year back... Having covered their solemnization a year ago and even a pre wedding shoot in London this year...  its only right that i give them the very best i could offer... without their support n encouragement, i might not even get to where i am today in photography...

Went thru their raw file... some surprises that i am pretty happy with :)... here r 2 for a teaser.
